17 point dental health check
As part of our continued care at Soar Valley Dental Practice we use the 17 point Dental Health Check when seeing you at each routine appointment. A list follows:
- Update on Social History
- Update on lifestyle changes (smoking, stress, bereavement etc)
- Update on Medical conditions
- How healthy do you feel?
- How healthy does your mouth feel?
- Extra oral examination to include palpation of the neck and TMJ
- Check TLCS – Tongue, Lips, Cheeks, Skin
- Tooth examination – problems noted
- Restoration examination – problems noted
- Gum examination – problems noted
- Plaque control – Excellent, Fair or Poor (see protocol for definitions)
- Check bite and tooth wear
- Ortho assessment
- Risk factor assessment for Caries and Periodontal disease (see protocol for definitions)
- Radiographic examination
- Other tests as appropriate
- Diagnosis and treatment planning, and report findings
In addition to the above you will receive:
A Report on your Dental Health
Advice on improving health or praise to maintain home care routine to maintain optimum dental health
Dentist to show the patient anything in their mouth of particular interest with Intra Oral camera.
